Didnt work

At first I thougth it was the battery, I bought a new one. Then I thougth, out of no luck, I bought a bad one. Then I thougth it was the mobile or the connectors, but I never found out. And couple of years after, today, I tried again and found your post! I found your video and tried, now there is a red led flashing on the bottom of the screen, I didn't achieve to start the phone, but I saw this led flashing meaning "charging", and so I stopped here for now on, waiting for a coupe hours charging, then I 'll see if it start. At the bottom of this post, I'll post follow on on my progresses.

Good way to wear out a failing switch. Open it and VERY gently clean the switch with contact cleaner.

I can't believe this worked!! It sounds so crazy but I kept pressing the power button and did a factory reset and quickly pressed the menu button and it worked.

So I found out my old nexus 5 laying around in some boxes and decided to give a go on youtube, and so far your method is amazing, it did turn on and it's now charging. hopefully it'll work in no time. thank you.

Didn't work for me, been trying to fix this damn phone for months. I eventually give up and accept it's death.. then weeks later i'll think "maybe it'll work" and again, pile of shit won't work. Bought it off Ebay new with 12 month warranty, after 10 months it dies, the seller completely ignores me, went through ebay and paypal and eventually they gave me the sellers VAT number which i could use against them as fraud, it was ONLY then the seller said if i send it back they'll repair it but then said "if we find the device is faulty through your fault we will charge you for the repair and £20 return fee" considering the seller scammed me with a fake warranty i didn't trust them one bit to fix it and i bet they would say it was my fault and demand money. I went through LG directly and they told me the phone was a US import and only way to repair it would be sending it to the US and paying them to repair it, which over all would cost me more than the phone cost. This damn phone has been nothing but a nightmare, also be weary of any seller on ebay with "warranty" because after 30days Ebay can't do a single thing and they get away with scamming people. Sorry, rant over

THAT IS THE FIX (for me) I have a NEXUS 5 (not x) I followed the instructions here developers.google.com/android/images#hammerhead IT BOOTS FINALLY. now i'm trying to figure out how to avoid this happening again because of some stupid system update.

I tried to boot in safe mode and the phone says Start -> Power Off or Start -> Restart Bootloader. My phone was charged to around 60%, i was using flashlight, then i pressed the power button and everything shat down. In my opinion the bug is caused by the phone not recognizing the battery for some reasons. I kept my phone plugged for 24h with the bug and nothing worked ( i removed the back case so my phone would not vibrate every 5 seconds ). After repeatedly pressing power while connected to my charger it worked and the charge says 63%. Looks like the battery was disconnected somehow for more than 24h and kept its charge
